The steering tie rod is an important part in the steering mechanism of the car, which directly affects the stability of the car's handling, the safety of operation and the service life of the tire. Steering rods are divided into two categories, namely steering straight rods and steering cross rods. The steering straight rod undertakes the task of transmitting the motion of the steering rocker arm to the steering knuckle arm, and the steering tie rod is the bottom edge of the steering trapezoid mechanism, and is a key component to ensure the correct motion relationship between the left and right steering wheels.
There are two main types of steering tie rod structures, one has the ability to relieve reverse impact, and the other does not have this ability. In order to relieve reverse impact, a compression spring is set at the ball head of the straight tie rod. The opposite direction is the same, it is required to bear the force along the axis of the straight rod, and can eliminate the gap caused by wear between the spherical part of the ball stud and the ball stud. For the second configuration, which prioritizes the stiffness of the connection over the ability to mitigate shocks, this configuration is characterized by the axis of the compression spring below the ball pin aligning with the direction of the ball pin. Compared with the former, the stress state of the compression spring is improved, and it is only used to eliminate the clearance caused by the wear of the spherical parts.
